Membership Information:
To join Q4W group and our members-only drives, your 4x4 Vehicle must first be equipped with all the equipment listed here and some extra recovery gear. We will explain the importance of all items at Q4W introduction / Dune fun drive Event which you can find it on our Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/qatar4wheelers/events/)
The following gears is required for full members:
As a member of Q4W, you will receive benefits including discounts at camping shops, auto-repair shops, tyre shops, radio shops, and more. Numerous retailers in Doha sponsor our group and provide discounts to our members.
When you join our group, you'll join at Beginner level - you will have full membership benefits and access to our sponsors offers, but you will not yet be able to join the intermediate and advanced events
Membership levels
We assign membership levels to assist members in assessing and improving their skills and to structure events. All new members are assigned to the beginner level. Requirements to be promoted to higher levels are explained below, including requirements for skills and equipment. Some group events are restricted to a minimum level. To be considered for promotion review the requirements and discuss your goal with a marshal.
BEGINNER LEVEL
The member who has attended one Club Member trip (Q4W Introduction / Dune Fun Drive) at least, which we posted on our Facebook Page and have registered to the club for Annual Membership.
Beginner events are relatively easy drives. The marshals are prepared to help members through tricky situations and take every opportunity to create teachable moments.
Beginners will also be taught how to approach dune crest, crossing and descending a dune.
Basic Requirements (Beginner)
Qatar driving license
Attendance at at least one Q4W Introduction Drive
Q4W Annual membership
Required Skills (Beginner)
Following marshals’ instructions and willing to learn off-roading skills
Shifting into 4H and 4L
Shifting manually
Following good behavior in convoys: effective spacing, keeping in line, stopping if contact is lost with vehicle behind

4WD Vehicle with valid istimara (registration)
Front/Rear towing points
Qatar 4Wheelers sticker on the rear of the vehicle
Fire extinguisher
First aid kit
Spare tire in good condition
Jack (To lift up the car)
Jack base-plate (Piece of wood)

Battery booster cables
Tire deflator (pin removal tool)
Kinetic recovery strap (“snatch strap”)
Rated shackles (x2)

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
Once the members demonstrate confidence, competency and safe driving skills at Beginner level showing that they are capable of entering Intermediate trips, the marshals will upgrade them to intermediate level
Intermediate events will include more challenging routes, driving against the dunes, side-sloping (traversing, not for play), and learning more advanced skills on simple dunes are generally imparted on these trips. Intermediates should be generally very comfortable with off-roading and dune driving and need little, if any, coaching during an event. and the will also consist of reaching a GPS point challenges etc.

Following marshalls’ instructions
Maintaining excellent convoy etiquette (Responsible of the vehicle behind, convey speed, convoy line, …etc.)
Using all recovery equipment competently and safely
Performing recoveries of other vehicles
Climbing and descending large dunes with confidence
Traversing dunes
Navigating with a GPS device
Understanding terrain and the limitations of your own abilities
Required Equipment (Intermediate)
All beginner equipment including the highly recommended safety equipment
Flagpole with Q4W flag
Tool kit (Spanners, Screwdrivers, Pliers, Cutter, Fuses, Duct Tape, WD40, cable ties)
Tow strap
GPS device and smartphone GPS app
ADVANCED LEVEL
Advanced events are fast, long, and challenging for the driver and the car. Generally, they are all day and (sometimes) night drives. The terrain on these trips can be extreme and skills of cresting, side cresting, side sloping, night driving and entering/exiting deep bowls are required.
Basic Requirements (Advanced)
Regular attendance in our events for at least 12 months
Confident, competent, and safe driving at advanced level
Required Skills (Advanced)
All intermediate skills
Willing and able to assist marshalls by taking second lead, tail sweeper, or side sweeper position in a convoy
Driving off-road at a fast, challenging pace competently and comfortably
Performing advanced recoveries such as pop-outs, double roping, … etc.
Good understanding of auto mechanics and off-road upgrades
Entering and exiting deep/tight bowls
Driving off-road at night
Side-sloping dunes
Cresting dunes
Completed GPS challenge
Required Equipment (Advanced)
All intermediate equipment including the highly recommended safety equipment.
VHF 2-way radio
Tire repair kit with spare valve pins
Advanced members will not be permitted to post trips on the Forum (Meetup), but may be encouraged to lead during a trip by the Marshall for any level.
