Well...I don't know where to start with...let's just say it's been a long journey with the Q4W family...every moment to be cherished for a lifetime!
Since I'm here to write about "My best off-road driving tip" let's just go on with it.
My desert experience started with my LC200 few years ago when I used to head out on my own and get stuck because I didn't have any idea regarding the basics. I just deflated the tires (at the tire shop) and went straight ahead into the desert. Got stuck a couple of times, had my front totalled due to a hard landing. All these happened before I learnt about Q4W.
Later found a group on Meetup that looked interesting and thought why not? Next thing I know I'm on a Intro drive with Caleb (whom I want to thank a lot ).
Only during the first intro drive a learnt how to deflate, setting the right gear range and always run in manual, among other tips. Really enjoyed the Intro drive and signed up right away.
Since then, I have ensured to be at almost all the Intro drives, because that's where we all started from. It's really necessary to always keep it in check.
The best part of the Intro drive is where you learn what kind of (basic) recovery gear you require in the desert:
- Deflator
- Snatch strap
- Tow rope
- Air compressor
- Rated shackles
- Jumper cables
- Shovel
- Jack (and Base plate for it)
- First Aid kit
The right recovery gear is a must while heading to the desert. One can never know when it might come handy. (It always does)
With the right gear you feel confident enough to head out even if it's just by yourself.
Going to end this by saying thanks to all the confident and supportive marshals who make this group stand out among the rest and live up to its name️.
